All of our water projects are built to last, but the actual time they can reliably serve people depends on many variables.
We at The Water Project strive to ensure each project we build is sustainable over time. We work with each community and school to mobilize a water committee, then check up on completed projects and committees for years.
For all of our work, past and present, we're employing new monitoring technology, training maintenance teams, and setting aside 5+ years’ worth of resources to fund repairs and resolve problems.
Our founder, Peter, has written extensively on this topic because it's one of the most important facets of improving water access.
We're pretty passionate about keeping the water flowing, which is why we have The Water Promise: a group of dedicated donors who set aside money each month to support our efforts in monitoring water projects and resolving any issues that arise.
