What makes a water project different from just building a well?

The cost of a water project is more than just building a well, constructing a rainwater catchment systeother long-term water sources.  Each project includes:

  • Preparing the community, which we call Community Mobilizing.
  • Education about hygiene and sanitation principles; without these, the new water source won’t do much good.
  • Actual construction of the water technology, which we call hardware.
  • Long-term monitoring and evaluation, to make sure the project lasts.

Want to sponsor a water project yourself?  That would be great! We'd like to tell you more about that; read here.
